Him, "You're so pretty."

Me, "But all I did was take shower. I didn't bother to put any makeup on either."

The he whispers in my ear, "You don't need it."

Revelation

  • Dec. 10th, 2009 at 10:28 AM
I looked in the mirror this morning, and I think I saw a glimpse of what everyone else sees when they look at me. In that moment, I saw the truth in all the compliments that so many wonderful people in my life have given me, the compliments that I normally mentally shrug off because I don't believe they're *really* true. Today is going to be a good day.

Him: "Everyday is Valentines day when I'm with you."

Fyi, He is just an ordinary friend.

A sound guy that I look up to:
"I've never actually heard you sing. You did great. You need to sing more often."

I sing on the worship team at my church. Currently they're trying to make it a "Worship department", instead of just a leader. The current worship leader recently told me that the whole staff (many, many people that I look up to immensly) agrees that I'm the first person they want to train up to work under the worship leader. Music is my greatest passion, but I have some confidence issues. The fact that they have that much confidence in me and think that highly of me, basically made my week. :]

A little gift

  • Dec. 8th, 2009 at 12:15 PM
So today, I helped my friend with a paper that she was writing for a mass communications class. Once I had finished editing it, she told me to hold out my hand. I did so, and she put a handful of japanese mango gummies into my palm. "I don't know how else to repay you" she said. That was certainly more than enough to me =]

I made this dream catcher shirt for my friend out of fabric markers, and he said, "Thanks again for my shirt! It's awesome! I got compliments all day today!"

Notification System

  • Dec. 7th, 2009 at 1:15 PM
**FINAL EDIT Thu Dec 10 02:15:47 UTC 2009**

So there is the final update... Over the past day we have processed around 11 million jobs out of the 12 million that were in queue at that time. Please bear in mind that over this past day, more jobs for notifications are also created. So while the queue has been dropping, we are still not fully caught up at this point, due to backlog and new jobs. We have roughly 3 million jobs still pending that involve the notification system in some manner. We had hoped we could have fully cleared the queue in a day, but unfortunately we can't clear it too quickly, since we need the rest of the site to operate normally. From our current perspective on the amount of jobs that are left in queue, and how many it has processed thus far, we believe it will take around another 8 - 12 hours to process everything.

And finally some answers to some questions:

Hang in there <3 you're doing great!"

And that morning, because i was running so late for work, Markchan came to pick me up at 0345 in the morning to fly me down to work. I'm really luck, aren't i? {:

Our drama-choir department is really well integrated, and all the seniors are pretty tight, but even so there are always divisions, right? In who hangs out together, and whatnot. I got this wall post on facebook from some girls that I don't talk to that frequently:

"i just wanna say ur super duper cute!"
~"yes yes yes"

While assembling our tubas before basketball band rehearsal, A, T, and I were discussing end-of-semester papers for our various classes. A said this to T after I remarked that my latest anthro paper was a result of BS--

"Mmm, I doubt it. She's so intelligent that even her BS would be logical."

<3 And A's the one that just got an interview for med school.

In honor of National AIDS Awareness month, we've added a new charitable vgift. For each red ribbon you purchase for $2.99, we'll donate 100 percent of gross proceeds to IAVI.org (the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative) to support the development and global distribution of an affordable HIV vaccine (we'll cover credit card fees). You can read more about IAVI at [info]lj_cares. While we're on the subject, we raised $740 from our November fundraiser for Love Without Boundaries, which supports emergency healthcare and adoption of Chinese orphans. We thank you for helping us help others.

MogileFS Maintenance

  • Dec. 2nd, 2009 at 12:18 PM
**EDIT Thu Dec 3 23:24:15 UTC 2009 **

Hey Everyone, we are about to run the last alter job that we need to on our database servers. This will effect userpics / scrapbook / vgift images for the next few hours. Have no fear, your images aren't lost, there is just a really intensive process running on the servers which store the information for mogilefs. Thank you for your understanding and all the LJ love...

Hey LJers,

I just wanted to let you all know that we are going to be performing some mogilefs maintenance over the next few days. We will be upgrading our current version to latest stable as well as changing some db config information to better handle the amount of files we are currently hosting. This shouldn't cause a big impact on site stability, but you may see some minor delays with userpic / scrapbook images appearing or other requests associated with our mogilefs. We would love to not have that happen, but unfortunately with some of the steps we need to take we have to cause a delay with images. I figured this was a better solution than taking down all of LiveJournal because well lets face it, we all need our daily LJ fix ;)

Thanks,

My Boyfriend

  • Nov. 30th, 2009 at 1:10 PM
showed his aunts and uncles pictures of me at Thanksgiving, and throughout dinner he texted me:

"They think you are beautiful and are asking how I got you"
"My uncle, aunt, Granny and brother are here. My aunt wants me to marry you really soon. I just said 'we will see,' so as not to give us away."
"I love you and all I can do is smile knowing that my aunts and uncles are so impressed. My uncle keeps saying there must be something going on for me to get a girl like you"
"My aunt thought our halloween pic was Grey's Anatomy worthy, and she said you look like a new kind of movie star"
"I am so proud of us and am so glad everyone is as happy as I am. I love you, baby"

I went over to his house later on, and his granny told me even more hilarious stuff:
"Oh, Aunt Linda just could not shut up about you. All night! All through out dinner! Hilary is sooo gorgeous! Hilary is soooo beautiful! She just could not get over it."
